Photos came to light recently that confirmed the royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, had to spend Valentine’s Day separately. Images show The Duke of Sussex on a routine military visit to a Royal Air Force training camp in Norway, possibly the least romantic place imaginable.
Prince Harry does hold the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy and Squadron Leader in the RAF. Details reveal that this is a helicopter training base, located near the arctic circle, where soldiers can learn to fly in all kinds of severe conditions.
This latest piece of public service comes in the middle of a busy 2019 for both Harry and Mrs. Markle, as they’re expecting their first child in the spring. Starting a new family and moving into a new home can be a stressful time for any new couple, but for one with the weight of a crown on their shoulders, the complexity must take on a new level of overwhelming.
Since before the two were married last May, their romance has been a reinvigorating new chapter in the British Royal family. Harry, age 34, finally settling down with Markle, age 37, shows an important step in the stability of the monarchy.
Being the second son of Prince Charles (Queen Elizabeth II’s first son, and next in line for the throne), Harry, at sixth in line, may never hold the top chair, but six is still pretty high! In fact, there are ways he might even feel like he lucked out, never having the pressure of his older brother to one day take the throne. Instead, he’ll always probably be that pretty important uncle who comes and goes as he pleases, but has spent a lifetime just steps away from the spotlight.
As these pictures show: as long as he can serve his country well, and treat his new bride with honor, it’s good to be the Prince.
