The first photos have leaked from the set of The Hunt, an upcoming Amazon series starring Al Pacino and Logan Lerman, also pictured here. This show sounds insane – it’s about a group of Nazi hunters, three decades after the war, searching the New Jersey area for those once loyal to Hitler.

This is shaping up to be one of those projects that has peak momentum swirling around it. Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is pulling the strings, putting everything together. Jerrika Hamilton, Carol Kane, and Dylan Baker round out the cast, and the script is written by David Weil. Everything we know now points to a revenge driven thriller that unfolds this secret group of people who’s sole mission in life is preventing a fourth Reich.

Another popular storyline coming out of this project is how this is Al Pacino’s first venture into television. As though that marks some kind of shift in his career. Instead, 2019 could shape up to be one of his best with appearances in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Martin Scorcese’s The Irishman this year.

If you asked him, Pacino has probably had a lot of great years personally, but this may be one of the greatest for his fans. He’s finally working with Tarantino, an explosive combination, and he’s reuniting with Robert DeNiro, directed by Scorcese this time. The two were last co-stars together in 1995’s Heat and 2008’s Righteous Kill.

In fact, the real takeaway may be that Pacino’s name is just one more on the long list of those that lend legitimacy to streaming networks. Particularly, and relevantly to the bitter subscription battle, this eyebrow raise falls in Amazon’s favor.

Each network is looking for their next big show. The Hunt is slated for premiere later this year, and it just might turn out a self destructive, self righteous, vengeance fueled, dark mystery; unravelling yarn after yarn that we simply can’t look away from. Or, it could just fade back as a ten episode learning experience. Either way: we get to see Al Pacino hunting Nazis.
