Cardi B and Offset arriving at Jimmy Kimmel Live for an appearance after Jermaine Dupri calls her music ‘stripper rap’.
The Hip Hop couple made a colorful arrival at the Jimmy Kimmel studio in Los Angeles wearing coordinating orange outfits. Cardi was sporting a tie-dye off-shoulder jumpsuit and white slippers while her hubby wore an orange jacket, black tee, black leather pants, and orange Nike two-tone sneakers.
Their appearance comes on the heels of Jermaine Dupri calling Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Thee Stallion ‘stripper rappers’ because their main focus, according to him, is singing about their sexual escapades and dancing at a strip club.
However, Cardi B is the only former stripper out of the three female rappers named, so Dupri caused an immediate uproar when he decided to call their game just ‘stripper rap’ with some people even calling his comments ‘sexist‘.
Cardi had a response for Jermaine on her Instagram telling him that she raps about what people want to hear and they want to hear about her ‘p***y’.
“I have seen a lot of people write about how nowadays female rappers only talk about their p***y and sh*t but now that Jermaine Dupri brought it up, I am gonna say something about it. First of all, I rap about my p***y because she’s my best friend, you know what I am saying. Second of all, it seems that’s what people want to hear.”
Cardi went on to say that she tried a different route with her song Be Careful but the public wasn’t receptive to it at all and was talking ‘mad sh*t’ about it — so if that’s not what people want to hear (a PG version of Cardi B), then she’s going to rap about what sells, and that’s her ‘p***y’.
Da Brat, who was named the ‘greatest female rapper’ by Dupri, had something to say about Jermaine and about the female rappers he referred to.
“Everything Jermaine Dupri does is done strategically, he knows what he’s doing, he’s a genius. You should be thankful that the conversation was even started now! All female rappers because now the focus is absolutely on us.”
She went on to say she likes all the rappers named and they all have their unique talent that they bring to the table — “I love everybody. Everybody is got skills. Everybody is talented. Everybody is fly in their own right…I support every female MC”.
As far as Cardi B is concerned, she was unfazed by the controversy behind her skills and was focused on putting on a great performance with hubby Offset for Jimmy Kimmel’s audience.
The rapping couple went on to do a segment with Jimmy called ‘New Lyrics for Old People’ where the TV host tried his hand at translating the lyrics for Clout with a hilarious outcome. (WATCH ABOVE)
