Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have separated less than a year after being married in a surprise wedding last Christmas and suffering great loss in the Woolsey Fire.

The surprising news comes via a representative for Cyrus who told People — “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time” after the singer was spotted without her wedding band on while vacationing with her friend Kaitlynn Carter.

The Wrecking Ball singer posted a cryptic photo of herself sitting on a chair she captioned her ‘throne’ in a different snap, wearing a black bustier top, black pants, and loads of Versace chains, but notably without her wedding band.

Her representative explained they about Miley and Hemsworth that they are “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
