Jessica Simpson in the middle of her Open Book tour takes Eric Johnson and kids to a book signing at Barnes & Noble in New York City.

She was greeted with a storm of flashes as she exited The Bowery hotel being flocked by a group of fans and shutterbugs who wanted to catch a glimpse of the pop singer with kids Maxwell, 7, Ace, 6, and Birdie Mae, 10 months, and her hubby by her side.

In Open Book, she exposes sexual abuse by a close family friend when she was just six-years-old and talks about how her parents reacted when she finally got the courage to tell them — “I have a six-year-old and a seven-year-old, every night we pray together, I think of myself at that age and the thoughts that were going through my head and I was really scared.”

She mentions her tumultuous relationship with John Mayer and her addiction to him.  “We were great at intimacy”, she said, a fact Mayer has confirmed by calling her a “sexual napalm” in the past but that’s where things got complicated.

Their relationship was on-again, off-again, according to Jessica, which she says drove her to reconcile with him nine different times but the Daughters singer ended up breaking her heart each time.

The Dukes of Hazard actress doesn’t just talk about the people in her past but also gets candid about her struggles with alcohol and what drove her to it.  She now says she’s sober with the help of her hubby who gave up drinking the day she did in a sign of support.

The tell-all memoir has already ruffled feathers with ex-husband Nick Lachey and his wife after Simpson claimed they had sent her gifts which Vanessa Lachey flatly denied.  In a Today Show interview, Hoda Kotb tells the couple Jessica Simpson said she’s happy for them and claimed they were in good terms even receiving a “beautiful gift” from them during a point in her life.  However, the former MTV host rebutted the singer’s account claiming “I feel bad. I am sorry, you said somebody sent her something? It wasn’t us, I don’t know her address. But thank you whomever sent it for us.”
